VALRICO - No. 3 seed and host Bloomingdale
advanced to the Class 6A-District 6 championship game
and secured a place in next week's region tournament
with a 3-2 win against Sarasota Riverview. The Bulls got
two goals from Jared Adamo, while USF signee Alex Muniz
assisted on all three goals.
Bloomingdale took the lead 25 minutes in. Adamo's
initial shot was blocked by Rams goalkeeper Brian
Goldsmith, but Adamo reacted quickly, and lobbed it over
Goldsmith from 20 yards out.
The Rams equalized 5 minutes into the second half,
with Antonio Campos volleying home from 15 yards out.
But the Bulls struck back quickly, with Muniz's shot
being only parried by Goldsmith, allowing Adamo to
capitalize for his second.
Philip Romanski then made up for an earlier miss with
a far-post header from a Muniz corner to make the score
3-1, but from there the Bulls sat back, with even Muniz
dropping into defense, and with 3 minutes to go, Dan
Meacock scored to get the Rams within one.
The Bulls held on and will face No. 1 seed Sarasota
in the district final Friday night after the Sailors
scored twice in the last 10 minutes to beat Plant City
3-2.
Cheyne Roberts score twice for the Raiders, including
a second-half penalty to give Plant City a 2-1 lead, but
goals by Michael Alexander and Jon Courtous gave the
Sailors victory.
